Acceptable Use Policy
This Policy governs the use of the BullyAlert application by school districts, their staff, and students. It is incorporated by reference into the Master Service Agreement between Sentinel Beacon Labs and the subscribing school district.
✅ Permitted Uses
The Service may be used solely for the following purposes:
- Submitting anonymous reports of bullying, harassment, or safety incidents occurring on school property or in school-related contexts
- School staff reviewing, investigating, and managing submitted incident reports
- School administrators exporting incident data for official school records
- School staff communicating follow-up actions on verified incidents
🚫 Prohibited Uses
The following uses are strictly prohibited:
For Students
- Submitting false, fabricated, or malicious reports intended to harm another student or staff member
- Using the Service to harass, threaten, or intimidate any individual
- Attempting to identify or de-anonymize other students who have submitted reports
- Submitting reports containing obscene, pornographic, or illegal content
- Attempting to circumvent the anonymous reporting system to identify reporters
For Staff
- Accessing incident reports for purposes unrelated to school safety and student welfare
- Disclosing the contents of incident reports to unauthorized individuals
- Attempting to identify anonymous reporters beyond what is permitted by applicable law
- Using the Service for personal, commercial, or non-educational purposes
- Sharing staff login credentials with unauthorized individuals
For All Users
- Attempting to hack, reverse engineer, or disrupt the Service
- Uploading malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Violating any applicable federal, state, or local law
⚠️ Consequences of Misuse
Misuse of the Service, including submission of false reports, may result in disciplinary action consistent with the District's student code of conduct.
Misuse of the Service may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment, and may constitute a violation of FERPA with associated legal consequences.
Systematic or repeated violations of this Policy may result in suspension or termination of the District's access to the Service.
Policy Updates
Sentinel Beacon Labs reserves the right to update this Policy at any time with 30 days written notice to the District. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
